The Lay Member participates as a full voting member of the Speaker’s Committee for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, bringing an external view and governance experience. The role involves examining and challenging proposed estimates of resources and board appointments while working with the Speaker, committee members, and senior managers. Day-to-day activities include making independent judgments, reviewing financial plans, and ensuring transparency and accountability to the public.
