Agentic AI for Weather and Climate Model Development Industrial Placement 2027
You will join the Met Office as an Agentic AI for Weather and Climate Model Development Industrial Placement, working with the Dynamics Research team to investigate how artificial intelligence can accelerate scientific discovery and software development. Your day-to-day work involves developing a prototype hybrid physical-machine learning model and using artificial intelligence tools to assist with training, testing, and evaluating integrated systems. You will collaborate with scientific experts to ensure developments are robust, quality assured, and integrated into existing modelling frameworks. This placement offers the chance to network with peers across the organisation while gaining valuable experience in next-generation weather and climate modelling.

Selection process
Interviews will be completed by 16th December 2026. Successful candidates may be asked to complete a selection exercise such as a presentation, written test or scenario-based activity.
